Antigone and Her Sentence

Why does the sentry bring Antigone to Creon despite knowing she will be executed? Is the death penalty a fitting punishment for Antigone's crime? Explain. How does she defend herself?

The sentry brings Antigone to Creon despite knowing she will be executed because he says that he would never want to do this again since Creon scares him, but since he found Antigone doing the burial rituals, he wants to not be blamed for anything. He says to question her, make his judgement, it is up to him, but as for the sentry, he is off the hook and there is nothing more he can do. I do not think that the death penalty is a fitting punishment for Antigone's crime because all she was trying to do was give her brother a proper burial. She would have done this for her other brother, but he is already buried. She defends herself by saying that she never heard Zeus say anything about the laws. She said that she would rather die young because she would be miserable anyway if her brother was not buried. Antigone shows no signs of fear.
